--We know there are physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual benefits of engagement with gardens and nature. Participants will learn strategies to support well-being in these areas of human growth and development with ideas for each season throughout the year.

Teresia Hazen worked as a medical horticultural therapist for three decades serving patients, families, employees, and communities across Legacy Health in the Portland, Oregon metro region. At seven hospital campuses she managed twelve gardens in her role as coordinator of therapeutic gardens. Specialty training in pediatrics, gerontology, psychology, education, addictions counseling, special education, horticulture, and curriculum design inform her continued healthcare and public health work. She has more than one hundred credit hours in college horticulture and landscape design coursework. See her tools for implementing programs and best practices in "Therapeutic Landscapes: An Evidence-Based Approach to Designing Healing Gardens and Restorative Outdoor Spaces." She received a Clark County Public Health award in 2018 for Legacy's health and nature work across the region. Teresia is committed to growing healthier communities through engagement with daily nature for all ages and abilities wherever we live, work, and play.
