Cultivating a Diverse Extension Master Gardener Program

September 29, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 11:45 am

Two women talking about plants.

Biodiversity is essential to ecologic health. As gardeners we all know that mono-cultures are not sustainable. When asked to envision the next decade of our WSU Extension Master Gardener Program, volunteers see a program that is more diverse and accessible to all. To become more diverse and accessible, we must take action.

Learn best practices for growing a healthy, thriving, and diverse community of Extension Master Gardener volunteers who foster and value our differences. Learn about how the Civil Rights Act requires certain action but can also inspire us to make sure we are doing our best to serve all audiences. Learn about how some of the values and belief systems we grew up with may not resonate with today’s gardeners.
