Harolyn, a WSU Extension Pierce County Master Gardener since 2016, became involved in the WCCW program in 2018. She supports the TCC Horticulture director by coordinating educational opportunities for the class with speakers, activities, and connecting with the greater community. As the program chair, Harolyn has mentored interns and volunteers interested in working with the students at WCCW. Extension Master Gardeners provide so much value to the program that goes beyond the delivery of research-based education. Master gardeners give the students hope for a better future and helps to reduce recidivism.
